What is Kickstarter and how does it work?

On June 16th, we launched our Kickstarter campaign for the Drift, so we created this post to help answer some of the questions that you may have regarding our Kickstarter campaign.

*If we don’t reach our funding goal of $50,000, the Drift will not go into production. Our campaign ends on July 19th!

What is Kickstarter?

Kickstarter is a crowdfunding platform that helps bring creative projects to life. Each project on Kickstarter is independently created and supporters, also known as backers, pledge money towards the project. In return for their pledge, they will receive a reward along with knowing that they helped bring a project or idea to life!

How do I back a project?

To back a Kickstarter project, click on the green “Back This Project” button on the project page. You will be asked to enter your pledge amount and select a reward tier. US based projects will go through the Amazon checkout process. If you would like to complete a pledge towards a project, you will need to create and log in to a Kickstarter account.

When is my card charged?

If the project you are backing is successfully funded, you will be charged when the project reaches the funding deadline. If the project does not reach its funding goal, your card will not be charged and you will not receive your reward.

If you are seeing a charge on your bank statement while the project is still live, you are likely seeing a temporary authorization of funds. The time it takes for this authorization to clear is usually 1-3 days. Once again, you will not be charged until the project you are backing has ended and it is successfully funded.

Is my pledge amount publicly displayed?

No, your pledge amount is not publicly displayed. Only you and the project creator will be able to see the amount you pledged. After you have made a pledge, your name will be displayed here.

I wasn’t able to input my shirt size, frame size, frame color, decal color, and/or shipping address when I made my pledge. How can I give you this information?

Once the project reaches its funding goal, you will receive a survey from Kickstarter via email asking you to provide your shipping address, size, and any other information that is needed. If the project is not funded by the deadline, your pledge will not be taken out of your bank account and you will not receive the reward associated with your pledge.

Do you have questions about our project?

Feel free to contact Wyatt Bicycle Company if you have any questions! At the bottom of the project page, there’s an “Ask a Question” button. This will send your question directly to us. You can also email us at sales@wyattbikes.com

If you are already a backer and would like to make your question or comment public, you can post a comment on the project.
