Recently got a fat tire after years of wishing. Only have a few rides in but this is a very solid and comfortable bike. My son helped me with the options and so far am thrilled. Process was easy and Wyatt was a pleasure to work with!
The Maverick is a solid piece of riding equipment. Heavy duty well made American bike. Definitely not a bike for weight weenies. It is what you would expect for a "dirt bike without a motor" as one of my friends put it. I opted for the Hayes Dominion brakes and am not disappointed. They stop on a dime and give charge. I swapped out the Schawble almighty tires for a set of Ultraverse tires; what a difference. The Schawbles were rather squirley and made me feel unstable especially on loose surfaces like gravel over hard pack. The Ultraverse is more heavy duty and has a tread design more like an Enduro bike. They work great with the 26 inch wheels. Only other thing I would like to change is the 30 tooth chain ring on the crank. A 24 or 26 tooth would provide for more leverage when climbing. Was worth the investment and wait. Two thumbs up.
Like several others, due to my height (6'6") found Wyatt since the XL Maverick had the geometry to fit. It does indeed me fit well and I've been beyond pleased that works even better than my S6 Stumpjumper EVO.
Wyatt was great in being flexible in adjusting some components that I wanted and building up an extra set of wheels with 27mm rims that I use to make the Maverick my gravel bike during summer.
It has a been a joy to ride, particularly on the trail in snow. Geometry is a perfect match for me and have been stoked to find how well it climbs. Been able to make it up sections of trail even in the snow that I struggle clearing during the summer.
It is beautifully made and makes me smile every time I ride it.
I never had a bike that really fit before. 6'5" with a 6'8' arm span, size 15 shoes, I always had to get a long high stem, clamp the seat too high then balance like a circus bear on a unicycle, trying to stay in the sweet spot. I went to pick up my bike, Wyatt raised the bars one spacer and it fit perfect (with just the stubby little stem like the cool guys have on their bikes). I did a custom order for an XL Maverick: Mastodon pro, PNW dropper, koyote bars, sq lab grips and a Koda saddle, 4.5 studded dillingers for the winter. I had some 29ers built in Wausau with some Wicked Will tires. I intended to use the 29ers mainly for gravel but the bike feels and grips better than my full suspension carbon fiber with a butcher on front. I'm pretty sure it is going to be my go to year round ride. It's my families 2nd Wyatt so I already knew about the "Maverick Magic". Somehow, it is heavier than the other bikes but feels lighter and goes faster! The bike is made right here in Wisconsin, you can meet Wyatt and get a quick tour of the shop if you want. If your tall you have to try one of these xl Mavericks to see what you missing, I doubt you can find anything that comes close. Even if your not tall you will be amazed at how this bike somehow rides like a full suspension bike feeling both responsive and stable. Thanks Wyatt!
Aside from being a great company to purchase a high quality and American made mountain bike, I also took the interest and liberty of purchasing a t-shirt to happily represent Wyatt Bikes.
It was an easy process, hassle free and just as the bikes are, my t-shirt is of great quality as well.
Wyatt Bikes has given me a sense of a company that you can put your trust in. I'd without hesitation do business with Wyatt Bikes again and again.
Thank you for being so great and customer service oriented. I hope more fortunate consumers have the opportunity to experience the quality and care you offer.
Sincerely, Ty C.
The triple guides align the 3 cables perfectly, made of a tough pvc , they do the job perfectly.
I bought it for my son who is in high school. This bike is tough, goes anywhere, and looks great doing it. High quality components. It is black with red letters. His buddies are envious. When I upgrade my own fatty someday, I will seriously consider the Maverick.
I am really happy with this purchase. It is a beautiful bike and rides comfortably. Made in America is important to me and I’m glad I didn’t cheap out and buy a trek.
I love this shirt, great fabric and athletic fitting. Also really cool spreading the word on this company, will create conversations!
The maverick is a great choice if you’re looking for a fat bike with modern geo and that’s capable on the trails. I’ve ridden this bike on the beach and on the trails with steep, technical terrain. This thing moves! Power transfer is great and is pretty nimble for being a fat bike. As with any bike, tire choice and setup is crucial to riding g dynamics, but from a frame perspective, this thing is SOLID, stable, and super-fun!
As a 6’6” former mountain bike racing enthusiast, I came across Wyatt Bicycles to replace my full suspension bike. After a lot of internet scouting, I kept coming back to Wyatt. I know of no other bike company where you can call, or email your concerns and you speak to the owner/ manufacturer himself. That was the most impressive thing. As a tall rider I had many questions about frame sizing and overall fit,( also my first Fat bike), but Wyatt assured me that the Maverick would fit me. I had never purchased a bike without first trying it out, but after speaking to him personally , I decided to order one.
I’m glad I did!
What an impressive build, beefy, modern geometry, and just plain fun to ride.
The bike handles great on all surfaces, and is not sluggish as expected ( being a fat bike).
This bike suits me just fine, and I recommend checking out Wyatt Bicycles if your a tall rider, and looking for a modern Fat bike for your adventures!
Go have fun!!!
My build:
Maverick /XL frame / 27.5 x 4.5” tires
Manitou Mastodon comp fork.
Funn Mamba pedals .
Just having a relatively new purchase, I've gotten to take the maverick out every weekend to Labanon hills MTB park, and the confidence it brings is remarkable. Its my first fat bike, but i've test rode a few brands to see if i wanted 26, 27, wider or narrower, front suspension or rigid. In the end, there was a 27.5x4.5 with a deore and wren rigid Wyatt that still keeps me smiling even moving up to the more difficult trails. I found myself trying to put the ride in words, its comfortable, stable, and has a very dual suspension pop feeling, without the shocks? not for nothing, i still admire the craftsmanship and welds on this bike to no end, Wyatt has really done a great job manufacturing these!
My new Maverick fat tire bike has quickly turned into my go to bike. I love riding it on all types of terrain. I can decide to ride on a bike path and then switch to full off road trails without having to think whether or not the bike can handle it. This makes my bike rides very enjoyable, so whatever I happen to be in the mood for, my bike is always ready! Very good quality bike. Great ride quality and the brakes and shifter work fantastic. I couldn't recommend the bike more. If you are considering a mountain or fat tire bike, you owe it to yourself to check out one of Wyatt's bikes before making your purchase. You won't be disappointed.
So I put some serious mileage on my XL Maverick last winter and there was never, ever, ever a point that I wasn't smiling. So I did switch up some of the components to better fit my size and age - I'm 6-6, 240lb with 37.5" arms and 36.5" inseam and 14-15 winter boot. Love to drop the post on steep stuff and climbing on this bike is awesome. I even take it on the jump / drop lines when snow and trail conditions are good. My XL triangle bag fits nicely within the frame. My back doesn't hurt anymore after a long time in the saddle. Simply put, this bike is modern geometry that matches the trails and desires of today's riders. I see a few riders out there on the trails that are my height and sometimes I wonder if they would benefit from riding a Maverick. I certainly did!
Best handling bike ever ridden nice Handlebars and suspension shift’s smooth fun to ride and looks good
Working with Wyatt and Wyatt bikes on the build for my Maverick modeled after the Nasty bike was so easy and stress free. Wyatt knows what he is doing and I could not be more pleased with my new fat tire bike. I was updated with each phase of the build and Wyatt took the time to fit the bike to me when I picked it up.
American made by Wyatt Bikes is the only way to go. I cannot recommend them enough and I know you won’t be disappointed if you check them out.
This is by far one of the highest quality bikes that I have owned. Amongst Fat Tire Bikes this is the best. Keep up the great work Wyatt!!! It is still appreciated to see things made in the U.S.A.
Hands down the highest quality mountain bike i’ve ever seen down to the details everything is perfect and operates perfectly as expected I would highly recommend a Wyatt Vista to anyone looking to get into mountain biking
Was thrilled to find a bicycle manufacturer that makes frames in my home state of Wisconsin. Supporting small business and USA manufacturing is important these days when most everything is made overseas. After only a few short minutes of speaking with Wyatt, I could tell this was his passion. He answered all my questions and was outstanding. There is pride and a commitment to quality behind each bike. The ability to choose your frame color and part specs is a huge plus. The bike has been fantastic, having ridden it in a variety of conditions. Racing, snow, trails, wet slop, sand the Maverick will do it all and take you anywhere you want to go.
A friend let me know about Wyatt and his American made fat tire bikes. Buying US made was important to me and talking with Wyatt you know right away this is his passion. I love my fat tire bike and love the advice and follow Wyatt offers.
I ordered a special color purple and it is awesome!! I can't wait for warmer weather and get out for many trail rides! Wyatt is wonderful to work with. I highly recommend Wyatt Bicycles!!
My Son loves his Wyatt bicycle! So much in fact that he's considering buying a second one. The Wyatt gift card was his start on the new bike and I love the customer service that I received!
When I ordered the Maverick, I expected a really nice and well built frame. Yet I was still very surprised with the quality, and very impressed with the frame overall. The frame geometry is modern, and the bike rides like it is capable of anything you are willing to ride. I've ridden on snow, ice, wet trails, dry trails, and rock - lots of chunky rock, with steep descents, climbs, and jumps. The bike is incredible.
I bought this frame primarily for winter riding but am also very interested in building up a set of 29+ wheels for bike packing. This frame ticked all the boxes for me. I love the external cable routing for maintenance and the included cable clamps made everything tidy. I wasn't expecting the chainstay guard so I was very pleasantly surprised to find it included. It looks great and is very well made. Communication was excellent throughout the order process and continued with prompt responses to emails after I received it.
When I was looking for a new mountain bike, one of the first things I looked for was a Made in Wisconsin bike. Wyatts name popped up and it looked exactly like what I was looking for. When it came time to pick-up my bike, I was able to take a quick tour of his shop. It's obvious between the top notch build quality, parts list and shop that he takes great pride in his product. I would recommend his products to anyone looking for a hardtail mountain bike!
