Driftless

$1,199

The Driftless was our first fat bike model that was released in 2014 and stopped production in 2017. It was not manufactured in the USA, as we weren’t manufacturing our frames in-house at this point. The frame was made in China and then the powder coat and assembly happened in the USA.

Our Process

Design

Our design philosophy is simple, to design bikes that we would want to ride. The inspiration of our designs come from a variety of sources such as our customers, the road and trails, our imagination, but most importantly, from the ride.

Finish

All Wyatt bikes are powder coated by local powder coating specialists and the decals are applied using ink transfer technology. Powder coating is an advanced finishing process that is an eco-friendly alternative to liquid paint. Powder coating is more resistant to chipping, scratching, fading, and wearing when exposed to snow, rain, and the hot sun.

Assembly

All Wyatt bikes are assembled to order one at a time at our headquarters in La Crosse, WI. The assembly of a bike is one of the most important aspects of delivering a long lasting product to our customers. We ensure that every part on the bike is properly working and free from defects.

Frame Design Features

The Driftless frame is light, agile, and handles just like a mountain bike. The short chain stays and wheelbase matched with a steep head tube angle provide a fast and maneuverable bike.

The Driftless frameset is made from high quality, hydroformed, double butted, 6061 heat treated aluminum. This tubing produces a very strong and lightweight foundation that enhances speed, control, and stiffness.

Weighing in at only 30 lbs (Driftless 3.0), the Driftless is one of the lightest factory aluminum fat bikes on the market.

The tapered head tube matched up with the large down tube and frame gusset significantly increases the front end stiffness and enhances the control of the bike. The head tube allows for tapered or standard 1-1/8″ forks.

The brake and shift cables are not exposed to the elements such as dirt, sand, snow, and water, which will improve the performance of the bike in poor riding conditions.

The 170mm spacing allows for a stronger symmetrical rear wheel, while maintaining a proper chain line with a 100mm bottom bracket and a smaller Q-factor.

Enough tire clearance to ride 26″ x 4.0″ tires front and rear on 80mm rims. The Driftless is also capable of having enough clearance for Kenda Juggernaut 4.5″ tires.
